
RULES & REGULATIONS
The rules and regulations stated in this section applies to all presenting participants.
A.
PARTICIPATION QUALIFICATION

Participants must be undergraduate students.
-
Participation is opened to students from all Biology programs.
-
Participants must register using the registration form available on the website of 31st Intervarsity Biochemistry Seminar (IBS) by 4th December 2021.
-
Presenting participants must make sure they have completed the payment of the registration fee and are successfully registered as a participant.
-
Registration fee is not refundable, except with valid reason.
-
The topic of presentation must be related to biochemistry and molecular biology.
-
All categories will be conducted in English.
B.
COMPETITION CATEGORY
1. Oral Presentation
Participants are required to prepare and submit the following:

1.1 Abstract

Abstract must be submitted via abstract submission link on the website of IBS by 4th December 2021.
-
Name the PDF document following the format: University Name | Participant’s Name | Category (e.g., Universiti Malaya | Zuliana Razali | Oral).

Please refer to the abstract guideline and template on the website of IBS.

1.2 Presentation

Presenters have 10 minutes to present their Final Year Projects with a five minute Q&A session at the end.
2. Poster Pitch
Participants are required to prepare and submit the following:

Abstract must be submitted via abstract submission link on the website of IBS by 4th December 2021.

Name the PDF document following the format: University Name | Participant’s Name | Category (e.g., Universiti Malaya | Zuliana Razali | Poster).

2.2 Poster

Posters must be designed according to the following format:
-
Dimension: Maximum 48” wide x 36” height
-
Orientation: Landscape
-
Poster Sections: Title, Authors, Affiliation, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Conclusion, References.
-
Font size: Minimum font size should be at least 13pts. (Captions for tables and charts can be 9pts).
-
File Format: PDF (Do Not Exceed 10MB).

Posters must be submitted via the Poster Pitch Submission Link on the website of IBS by 11th December 2021.
2.3 Pre-recorded video
-
A THREE (3) MINUTE poster presentation is to be pre-recorded by participants.
-
Upload the video to YouTube with a title following the format: IBSUM31 | Title | Name (e.g., IBSUM31 | Biochemistry of Floral Senescence | Zuliana Razali).

Submit the YouTube link using the Poster Pitch Submission Form available on the website by 11th December 2021.
-
Posters and videos will be evaluated by a panel of judges and top 20 finalists will be announced on 17th December 2021 via the website.
-
Finalists will participate in the final round during the event on 18 December 2021.
-
The final round consists of a five minute Q&A session.

C.
COMPETITION (18 DEC 2021)
-
The competition will be held online via Zoom Cloud, therefore participants must make sure that the supporting equipment and devices are available (Laptop/PC with a functioning camera and speaker, microphone, and good internet connection).

During the presentation, the committee will mute the microphone of all the participants. Participants are only allowed to unmute their microphone during their presentation and Q&A.
-
Presenters must be present at least 15 minutes before the competition starts.
-
The following presenter may start presenting if a presenter is facing technical issues.
-
Presenters should dress up appropriately for the online presentation.
-
All presenters must submit their abstracts which are aligned with the abstract format by 4th December 2021.
-
Work that violates the regulations and/or submitted late will be disqualified.
-
Judges’ decision is final and irrevocable. Scores for each presenter will be summed up and presenters with the top scores will be declared as the winners.

The organiser reserves the right to add winners or vacancies for each group.
-
The certificate of participation for every participant will be sent through e-mail in the form of an e-certificate.
-
The names registered on the website will be the names printed on the certificates.
